Established by Alice Hoyt Veen in 2009, Prairie Roots
Research provides genealogical and historical research to
clients seeking superior research solutions presented in
historical context.
Alice Hoyt
Veen, Genealogist
Alice has been a dedicated genealogist for nearly thirty years.
A native of Iowa, she grew up in Monroe and Mahaska County,
an area with a rich history. She has been a
volunteer researcher for the Mahaska County Commission for
the Preservation of Pioneer Cemeteries since 1998 and has
researched, cataloged and archived historical artifacts as a
volunteer for Forest Park Museum in Dallas County.
In 2009 Alice began providing professional genealogical and
historical research services. A past board member of the
Iowa Genealogical Society, she serves as the society's eNews
and bimonthly newsletter editor.
